2023 OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN IS COMPLETE

After several years of hard work, ups and downs and with the help of so many generous  donors our  Campaign in complete!  With a total cost of just under $305,000 we have two large buildings housing 24 indoor cottages with large covered outdoor runs; a huge covered play yard with artificial turf; and with multiple  separate buidlings to isolate puppies, store food and supplies, a laundry facility and bathroom facilities. The rescue received 5 acres of property for its overall facility.   In 2023 A Doggie 4 You routinely was a safe and comfortable home for an average of 140/dogs per month.  The large buildings also offer an office as well as a location for medical care needed in a shelter setting.

Late 2018 and Early 2019

We had the opportunity to purchase two schoolroom buildings at auction and move them to our property.

Our phase 1 project we call building 1. We worked with our electricians and Bandera Electric. A grid was installed to feed the various buildings. Each building will have twelve (12) 8’ x 8’ indoor cottages for the dogs, storage rooms, grooming facilities, a feed room, and office space. All cottages will open up to an 8’ x 20’ outdoor covered kennel.  Between the two buildings will be a covered play pen.

2020

In 2019 a lot of progress was made to the OUTSIDE of the two modular dog buildings. In 2020 the rescue  concentrated on the INSIDES to convert them into a comfortable, homelike atmosphere for the rescued dogs. Through the generous donation of one of our valued volunteers the dogs were provided with artificial turf in their exercise area, the alley ways, as well as the part of the outside kennel areas that were not cemented. The dogs will never have to deal with the mud issues of the past! Another generous donor provided the electrical grid which brought electricity to the buildings in the Dog Compound. We have lights now, but the dogs did not know what to make of lights at first. They know that lights, air conditioning, and heat are good things. We completed the remodel of the puppy room and built a laundry and rest room facility.  Building 1 interior is almost complete.

2021-2023

Throughout these years, progress was slower than planned.  Covid hurt progress in many ways, donations were down, contractors and materials were delayed, costly and in some cases  contractors were simply difficult to deal with.  Often our wonderful volunteers and donors stepped up and "got it done."  We are so thrilled with the final  results and our animals are safe and secure in climate controlled facilities in the beautiful Hill Country.
